MUAY THAI
Known as “The Art of Eight Limbs”; Muay Thai uses eight points of contact to the body that mimics weapons of war. The hands become the swords knives or daggers; the shins and forearms are the shields and are used against blows like armor. Both fighters use their legs and arms with grappling to take down their opponent.
The history of Muay Thai can also to the middle of the 16th century. During the battles between the Burmese (presently Myanmar) Konbaung Dynasty and Siam (Presently Thailand)
During this time a fighter Nai Khanomtom was captured and he was given freedom if he would fight for it. The Burmese knew of his skills as an excellent hand to hand combatant as he won the match easily.
He was freed by his captors and returned home to Siam a hero. Nai Khanomtom fighting style became to be known as Siamese Style Boxing which is now known as Muay Thai
